Governor Mourns As Stepmother Poisoned Children In Yobe

The Executive Governor of Yobe State and Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, has mourned four children allegedly poisoned by their stepmother in Potiskum town.

The Governor on Saturday through his spokesman, Mamman Mohammed, condoled with the family of Alhaji Haruna Ahmed, who lost three children in the incident with one in critical condition.

He prayed for Allah’s mercy on the souls of the deceased persons and prayed for their families to have the fortitude to bear the loss.

DAILY POST reported yesterday that a 22-year-old housewife, Khalida Yakubu, of the Makara-Huta area of Potiskum town was apprehended by detectives for allegedly poisoned four stepchildren.

Buni expressed deep sadness at the news of the demise of the Executive Chairman Gulani local government council, Alhaji Ahmed Musa, who died yesterday after a brief illness.

The governor said the state had lost a humble personality whose wealth of experience and lifestyle were needed to model and counsel the young generation to add value to the future of the state.

Governor Buni said, “With total submission to the will of Allah, we lost the Chairman Gulani local government council, who had always placed public interest above personal interests.”

Buni described him as an epitome of humility and a community leader with a passion to serve. “He spent his last days on earth serving humanity”.

“We pray to Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatu Firdaus”, Governor Buni prayed.

He also prayed to Allah to grant the family of the deceased and the people of Gulani local government area, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Similarly, he commiserated with the family of Alh. Umar Askirama, who also died yesterday.

Late Askirama until his death was the Vice President Special Duties, Yobe State Chambers of Commerce and Industries, (YOCCIMA), and was buried in Damaturu according to Islamic rites.
