Insecurity: Hunters Arrest Cattle Rustlers In Plateau

The Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Hon. Ubandoma Laven, said hunters in the Council have arrested two cattle rustlers and have handed them over to security agents.

He also said if communities were more vigilant, no bandits or terrorists would invade them.

The Chairman commended security agencies for beefing up security in the area after he raised alarm over planned influx of terrorists.

Laven disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Jos the State Capital.

He said, “I must commend my hunters’ group in Langtang North, because just yesterday, they arrested two cattle rustlers and I think they are doing a great job in this Council.

“The hunters caught two young men between 11pm and 1am, as they were trying to rustle cattle, the two men have been handed over to the police, and the DPO is handling the issue.”

According to him, “We are not saying we should take laws into our hands, but we should be proactive.”

“Honestly, if every community will be vigilant, there will be no attacks from bandits or terrorists”, he admonished.

On the recent alarm he raised about planned invasion of terrorists into the Council, Laven said, “The situation is calm now because the security agencies responded within 24 hours after the alarm.

“I must commend Police Area Commander, ACP Bayo Surudeen, he was up and doing and the Forward Operation Base (FOB) Commander Lt. Col JN Azi who also responded swiftly.

“Since then, the security personnel comprising the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police Force have been patrolling virtually everywhere.”

“This means that if security agencies are aware of impending situation, they will swiffly respond to curtail it.

“They have been combing virtually every nooks and crannies of Langtang,” he said.

He called on the people of the area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement to the security agencies.
