Ekiti 2022 Gubernatorial: It’s Southern Candidate Or No Polls – PDP Threatens

A political group within the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, the Ekiti South Senatorial District Leadership, has directed people of the South Senatorial District to boycott any election contrary to the resolution to present a person from the zone as governorship candidate.

According to the communiqué at the end of its meeting at Ikere Ekiti, headquarters of the South District on Thursday, the PDP leaders “ordered delegates from the district “to remain firm and refrain from honouring anybody that is not from the district with their votes”.

In the communiqué signed by a former Acting Governor, Hon Tunji Odeyemi; Dr Kunle Afolayan; and Chief Titilayo Oguntuase, the group stated, “The leaders met and resolved, among others, that people and delegates from the zone should not honour anybody outside the senatorial district with their votes.

“Failure of the PDP to pick its governorship candidate from the south senatorial district, our people should boycott any election.

“The Southern Senatorial District has the highest number of automatic delegates, the district has the highest number of local governments, the district has over 350,000 voters. We have directed members to boycott any election contrary to the resolution of the stakeholders and leaders of the district,” they stated.
