Driver Returns Bag Containing $20,000, N500k, Jewellery, Others To Passenger At Lagos Airport

A driver, Emmanuel Eluu, has returned a bag containing local and foreign currencies, jewellery and other valuables forgotten by a passenger at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos Terminal two.

It was gathered that the passenger boarded an Arik Air flight from MMA2 to Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Monday, August 30, 2021.

The Group Corporate Affairs Manager of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, Mikail Mumuni, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday said the bag and its contents had been returned to its owner.

He said, “Around 3.10pm on 30th August 2021, a black bag that was forgotten inside a Coaster bus used for conveying passengers at the airside, was picked up by the driver of the bus, Mr Emmanuel Eluu and brought to the Aviation Security Airside Supervisor, Mr Taiwo Adelakun.

“Eluu was accompanied by Gbadamosi Olasunkami (Operations, Airside Supervisor) and Oluwole Alonge (Operations, Airside Head of Shift) to ascertain what was kept in the bag and for safe keep.

“Inside the bag were the sum of $20,000 in two bundles, the sum of N500,000, five wristwatches in black and yellow pouches, a bead in a yellow bag, one eyeglass in a yellow bag, pieces of jewellery in two golden purses, four bank cheques, eye drop, envelopes of different sizes, a bundle of the business cards belonging to the owner of the bag (names withheld), an identification card and a Samsung Note 20 Ultra.”

Mumuni added that the owner of the bag, who was contacted through the phone number on the business card, ordered his protocol officer to collect the bag on his behalf.
