Osun Osogbo Festival 2021: A Carnival That Unites Oduduwa Descendants All Around The World, Photos Emerge

 

 

 

The Osun Osogbo festival of this year has been done in another grand style.

 

 

The Osun groove was so crowded just like a world carnival.

 

 

There was a lot of spiritual processions and merriment at the groove. The Osun Osogbo is part of the festivals that done yearly in Yoruba land.

 

 

 

The festival is the fulfilment of an agreement sealed by Larooye and Osun river goddess in the ancient time during the inception of Osogbo. Since then, the festival has become a yearly custom for Osogbo.

 

 

The Osun Osogbo is so popular that people used to come from far and near to attend the festival.

 

 

Osun Osogbo festival is one of the festival highly recognized by UNESCO. The Sacred Grove was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, covering 75 hectares of land.

 

 

This year’s celebration was more or less like OPC Congress, because there were a lot of OPC members that graced the occasion.

 

 

The Ataoja of Osogbo land Oba Jimoh Larooye (2nd) hosted many dignitaries like Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land who is also the leader of the OPC and many noticeable people from Osogbo, Osun state, Nigeria and abroad.

 

 

It was as if all the gallons and Jerry cans in Nigeria was all deposited in Osogbo as people were spotted carrying a lot of containers to fetch water from the Osun river.

 

 

It is traditionally believed that the Osun river water has divine healings.

 

 

People that are facing some challenges in their endeavors were also present at the Osun groove to suplicate to the river goddess to set their affairs aright for them.

 

 

Some people also use the opportunity to spiritual consel from traditionalists.

 

While some indigenes of Osogbo used the festivity period to come back to the town and also to check on their family.

 

 

The festival can be closely alternate to traditionalists congress because of the huge number of traditionalist worshippers that always condense the attendance.

 

 

Musicians and actors were not left out to add fun to the festivity.
