Osun Osogbo Festival 2021: State Govt Sends Message To Religious Adherents, Residents

–Charges Devotees To Obey COVID-19 Protocols

The State Government of Osun has admonished the Religions adherents in the State to embrace peace and love during the celebration of this year’s Osun Osogbo Festival.

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Osun, Dr. Obawale Adebisi gave the advise at the Press Conference organized by the Ministry in respect of this year edition of 2021 Osun Osogbo Festival held at the State Secretariat, Osogbo.

He disclosed that Religious tolerance is the basis of peaceful co-existence in the society, adding that, religious adherents need to extend hands of fellowship to each other during the occasion to sustain the peace that is been enjoying in the State.

The Commissioner further reiterated that, Government under administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola will do everything possible to resist plans of any individual under the guise of celebrating the festival to harass or intimidate the Osun Osogbo Worshippers, disturb public peace or discredit the integrity of the festival.

He also urged parents and guardians to warn their wards and Children not to be commissioned for any civil and criminal acts stressing that, anyone caught will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Dr. Obawale similarly stated that the State Government has put all necessary measure in place to provide the enabling and conducive environment in order to ensure a hich-free celebration of the globally recognized festival and to protect the lives and property of all and sundry coming within and outside the Country.

He further reminded the worshippers of COVID-19 DELTA VARANT that it is still very much around hence the need to strictly adhere to the already established protocol in order guard against the spread of the decease during and after the celebration in the State.

He however noted that, as pragmatic effort to control the crowd and giving opportunities to the rest of the World partake in the proceedings of the grand-finale of the festival coming up on Friday, 13th of August, this year, the State Government through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has collaborated with Active Projectile Limited to ensure the live transmission of the festival by setting up Virtual Platform stressing that the link to join the platform will be made known at a later time.

It would be recalled that, this year’s annually celebrated Osun Osogbo Festival has began since Monday, 2nd of August with the Spiritual Cleansing and some other traditional rites as flagged off by the Ataoja of Osogbo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun.
