The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, was recently thrown into mourning after losing one of its prolific filmmakers, Abiodun Aleja.
Aleja who was also a producer and actor reportedly gave up the ghost on Friday, May 21, 2021, after battling health complications.
According to reports, the actor was admitted to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) after falling at home and going into a coma.
It was gathered that the actor however regained consciousness at the hospital but was recuperating before his demise.
The sad news of Aleja’s death was reportedly broken by his wife who shared it with Makinde Adeniran, the chairman of the Lagos chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP).
VAM News gathers that colleagues at NANTAP had donated funds for his treatment after a deposit of N1 million was demanded by the hospital.
