Daily Nigerian is reporting that many air passengers, including the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero, have escaped death after an aircraft heading to Abuja from Kano developed engine failure, 10 minutes after take-off.
According to the report, the plane with the number VM1645 which was slated for take-off at 1.30 pm had about a 30 minutes delay.
The aircraft later took off around 2:00 pm with passengers filled to the brim.
It was gathered that 10 minutes after the take-off, the aircraft began to swerve around the air until it made a detour for an emergency landing.
Sources quoted in the report said the incident was allegedly caused by an engine failure, just as others attributed the incident to a bird strike.
The airline is yet to speak on the matter at the time of filing this report. Recall that the governor of Kano, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduge, on Thursday, April 8, narrated a tragic fate that would have claimed his life back in 1996.
Governor Ganduje said at the time he was just a commissioner for works, housing, and transport and was supposed to accompany the late former military administrator of the state, Abdullahi Wase.
Ganduje said the late administrator was to inspect the construction of the Jumaāat Mosque in Wase, Jos. The governor revealed that he was to board the same aircraft that crashed, killing the administrator and other government officials.
According to Ganduje, he could not join the trip because of an urgent assignment he needed to attend to. Painfully, the governor recalled that the next day, he and his colleagues got the shocking news that the administrator and others died in a plane crash.
