Youri Tileman Scores As Iheanacho’s Leicester City Defeat Chelsea to Emerge FA Cup Champions

Leicester City have emerged champions of the 2020/2021 English FA Cup following a 1-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday evening, May 15. The Foxes denied Thomas Tuchel his first title since the manager joined the Stamford Bridge outfit, and fans of the club will be disappointed.

As expected, the encounter lived up to its pre-match razzmatazz as they matched eachother in almost all departments during the entire fixture.

The tie was balanced in the early exchanges until the 15th minute when a free-kick was whipped into the Chelsea box. It was met by Soyuncu but the centre-back’s header was well over.

In the 24th minute, Mason Mount drove forward from midfield and got a shot away. It was deflected narrowly wide. Corner to Chelsea again.

And the Blues came close in the 30th minute through Azpilicueta who was inches away from converting a Jorginho cross.

Werner got the slightest of touches on the ball just before it reach the Spaniard. The Foxes then came close in the 43rd minute after a flat free-kick was delivered into the Chelsea danger area.

It was met by Soyuncu, but his header was wide. Bit of a let-off that for the Blues as the Turkish star had got free, and somehow it ended 0-0 at half time.

The second stanza began on a promising note for Chelsea as they improved their pace upfront.

But against the run of play it was Leicester that took the lead in spectacular fashion courtesy Youri Tielemans who rifled home in the 63rd minute.

The Belgium midfielder drove forward and latched a shot from 25 yards beyond Kepa Arrizabalaga to put the Foxes ahead.

Thomas Tuchel immediately made changes bringing on Pulisic and Chilwell to replace Ziyech and Alonso respectively. And in the 76th minute, the Blues came so close to an equaliser as Chilwell headed towards the corner but Schmeichel saved.

Despite bringing in the experienced Olivier Giroud in the last 10 minutes of the encounter, Thomas Tuchel’s side failed to restore parity Although they put tbe ball at the back of the net in stoppage time, but VAR decided Ben Chilwell’s knee bone put him offside.

And that was how it ended; Chelsea 0-1 Leicester City.
