Nigeria’s Super Falcons defeated Comoros 5-0 at the Remo Stars Stadium on Tuesday to secure a 7-0 aggregate victory and advance to the third round of the CAF Women’s Olympic qualifying series.
The 10-time African champions entered the second leg with a 2-0 advantage from the first encounter and delivered another dominant performance to seal their place in the next round.
Toni Payne and Uchenna Kanu scored twice each, causing problems for the Comorian defence throughout the match. Midfielder Christy Ucheibe completed the scoring by converting a penalty to make it five goals for Nigeria.
However, the victory was overshadowed by an injury concern involving Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade. The midfielder went down during the match and was forced off, raising concerns for the coaching team ahead of the next round.
Folashade Ijamilusi came on as her replacement and, alongside fellow substitute Blessing Okpe, helped strengthen Nigeria’s attack with fresh energy and creativity as the team completed the emphatic win.
The result confirmed Nigeria’s qualification for the third round, where the Super Falcons are set to face Morocco. The team will continue its campaign as it seeks to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games.
