“A Great Loss”: Osun Online Publishers Mourn Matron Olufunmilola Abokede

THE Osun Online Publishers Association (OOPA) is in mourning following the death of its Matron, Mrs. Olufunmilola Aderonke Abokede.

Mrs. Abokede passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, the association announced in a statement on Monday.

Until her death, she served as the General Manager of the Osun Agency for Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), where she was credited with driving community development initiatives across the state.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Abioye Tosin Lawrence, and Publicity Secretary, Babatunde Raji, OOPA described the late Abokede as a devoted Christian, philanthropist, and woman of service.

She was appointed Matron of OOPA in 2024. The association said she provided moral, physical and financial support to the group and urged members to uphold professionalism.

In the same year, 2024, she was honoured with the OOPA Women of Valour Award during the OOPA Osun Digital Media Week in recognition of her leadership, generosity and support for the association.

“Her death has undoubtedly created a deep and painful vacuum within OOPA, the public service community and among the many individuals whose lives she touched,” the statement read.

OOPA noted that Mrs. Abokede’s dedication to public service, philanthropy and human development would remain a lasting part of her legacy.

The association extended condolences to her immediate family, friends, colleagues and the people of Osun State, praying to God to grant her eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“May God comfort everyone who mourns her and grant us all the strength to preserve and continue the values of service, compassion and humanity for which she was known,” the statement added.
