THE Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has resigned from office.
Following his resignation, the Deputy Speaker, Jonathan Ibhamawu, presided over plenary.
The development paved the way for the emergence of Hon. Yekini Idaiyi, representing Akoko-Edo II Constituency, as the new Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.
Idaiyi was subsequently sworn in as Speaker, bringing a change in leadership to the state legislature.
The circumstances surrounding Agbebaku’s resignation were not immediately clear.
The former Speaker was also reported to have been suspended, although details of the suspension were not immediately available.
