THE 2027 Bayelsa State governorship race has begun to gather momentum as Great Joshua MacIver has formally notified the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of his intention to contest.
In a letter addressed to the Bayelsa State PDP Chairman and the State Working Committee, MacIver said his focus would be on competence, experience, commitment, transparency and the welfare of the people, rather than zoning.
“I firmly believe that the people of Bayelsa State deserve a leader who prioritises effectiveness, the welfare of our people, and the development of our State,” he stated.
As part of efforts to reposition the PDP in the state, MacIver also pledged to donate ₦70 million monthly to the party beginning from August 2026.
