Osun poll: Two APC members allegedly killed in fresh attack

A members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members have been shot in Ilesa by thugs alleged to be working with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s Accord Party.

The incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday when they were preparing for their rally in Ilesa, Voice Air Media learnt.

The condition of the persons shot is still unknown at the time of filing this report.

Online Newspaper on Saturday reported that the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council condemned an alleged attack on its campaign rally in Ilesa West, accusing the Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Wale Akerele, and operatives of the Amotekun Corps of opening fire on its members.

The APC campaign council, in a statement signed by its Head of Media and Publicity Committee, Engr Oluremi Omowaiye, had alleged that Akerele, accompanied by armed Amotekun personnel, opened direct fire on the crowd during a peaceful campaign procession on Saturday morning.

The party had claimed that scores of its members sustained injuries while scrambling for safety during the alleged attack.

It further alleged that four people were shot, including a 12-year-old boy identified as Oluwatobi Ilesanmi.

Media also reported that protest erupted in Ilesa, Osun State, after the 12-year-old boy was allegedly shot during a campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday morning.

The boy was reportedly sitting inside his mother’s shop when gunshots were fired during the campaign.

“Scores of APC members also sustained injuries,” the eyewitness had said.

The incident had reportedly triggered protests in parts of Ilesa, with residents demanding an investigation into the alleged shooting of the minor.
