Osun IPAC Charges Parties on Peaceful, Credible 2026 Election

THE newly inaugurated caretaker committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, in Osun State has called on political parties to unite ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

This is as IPAC also stressed the need for fairness, integrity and respect throughout the electoral process.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony on Monday, the caretaker committee chairman, Odesola Oluseye, urged members of IPAC to put aside their differences and work together to strengthen democracy in the state.

Oluseye said the approaching election required all political stakeholders to stand together in promoting peaceful participation and safeguarding the credibility of the electoral process.

“It is time for us to stand strong as a united front, advocating for fairness, integrity and respect within our political processes,” he said.

He appealed to members to prioritise their common goal of building a stronger democratic system, saying unity among political parties remained essential to ensuring credible elections.

“As we move into this critical electoral phase, I urge all members within our state to unite. We must put aside our differences and focus on our shared purpose to build a better tomorrow for our democracy,” Oluseye stated.

The caretaker chairman emphasised that every eligible voter deserved an opportunity to participate in the electoral process, adding that stakeholders should work collectively to promote transparency and public confidence.

“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that every voice is heard, every vote counted and every citizen empowered. Let us work hand in hand to create an electoral environment that reflects the true will of the people, fostering trust and transparency at every turn,” he said.

Oluseye also called for greater cooperation among political parties, saying the diversity of opinions within the state should be embraced rather than allowed to create divisions.

“Together we can cultivate a culture of cooperation and collaboration, where the diverse voices of our communities are not just represented but celebrated,” he added.

The caretaker chairman expressed appreciation to the national leadership of IPAC for intervening to end the prolonged leadership vacuum in the Osun State chapter, saying the action had restored direction to the council ahead of the election.

He said the proactive intervention by the national secretariat had provided a foundation for the council to continue its constitutional responsibilities, assuring members that the caretaker committee would administer the affairs of IPAC in accordance with its constitution.

Oluseye who expressed confidence that unity and adherence to constitutional principles would strengthen the electoral process and contribute to a resilient democracy in the state urged members to remain committed to one another and to the democratic ideals of the council.
