Osun Poll: Jubilation In Egbedore As Adeleke Commissions Projects, Gets Royal Endorsement

There was jubilation in Egbedore Local Government on Friday as Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, commissioned key road projects and received royal endorsement for his second-term bid ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

The governor commissioned the Dada Estate Road with Spur and the Ajetunmobi–Oke Ibukun Street with Spur to Aje Market in Ido-Osun before leading the Accord Party’s governorship campaign rally in Awo, the council headquarters.

Addressing a crowd of supporters at the rally, Adeleke also received over 500 defectors into the Accord Party. He urged residents not to be intimidated by the opposition, assuring them that security agencies had guaranteed adequate security before and during the election.

The governor charged party supporters, particularly youths, to defend their votes by remaining at polling units until votes were counted and announced. He also urged them to assist elderly voters to polling units in line with electoral law.

Adeleke warned voters against surrendering or selling their Permanent Voter Cards, describing those allegedly seeking to obtain the cards as “thieves.”

He further called on supporters to intensify house-to-house campaigns for the Accord Party, expressing confidence that the party would secure victory.

Campaign Council Urges Vigilance

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi, urged party canvassers to sustain grassroots mobilisation and remain peaceful throughout the election period.

He advised voters to stay at polling units after casting their ballots and follow the electoral process through ward and local government collation centres to prevent vote manipulation.

The Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Imole Campaign Council, Rep. Bamidele Salam, said the Adeleke administration had executed projects across all wards in Egbedore Local Government, including roads, schools, boreholes, transformers and healthcare facilities.

Salam appealed to residents not to sell their votes or PVCs, and urged them to vote for the Accord Party in all the 92 polling units in the local government.

“On August 15, all the 92 polling units in Egbedore Local Government must vote for the Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke,” he said. “Dear youths, be more proactive in your house-to-house campaign and sensitise people not to sell their votes to the APC. If anyone asks for their voter card, they want to steal their mandate.”

Monarchs Endorse Adeleke For Second Term

Earlier, the Alawo of Awo, Oba Abdulrasaq Taiwo Adeboye, commended the governor for developmental projects executed across Egbedore Local Government. He also lauded the enrolment of traditional rulers and their queens into the state’s free health insurance scheme.

Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers in the local government, Oba Adeboye announced the unanimous endorsement of Governor Adeleke’s second-term bid by monarchs in Egbedore.

“We appeal to hoodlums and everyone who does not want peace to reign in the state to embrace peace,” the monarch said. “We urge all residents to ensure that the August 15 election is peaceful. Governor Ademola Adeleke will secure a second term. After consultations and meetings, all the traditional rulers in Egbedore Local Government unanimously agreed to endorse Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term.”
