Why 11 Osun Corps Members Got Service Extension in 2025 Batch B Stream 1

THE National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has disclosed that 18 corps members from the 2025 Batch B Stream 1 absconded during their one-year compulsory national service in Osun State.

The Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, disclosed this during an inspection tour of Obokun, Ilesa East, and Ilesa West Local Government Areas to monitor the low-key Passing-Out Ceremony on Thursday.

Kubiangha also revealed that the NYSC had extended the service year of 11 corps members for various infractions in accordance with the provisions of the NYSC Bye-Laws.

Speaking during the monitoring exercise, Kubiangha said a total of 1,702 corps members successfully completed the mandatory national service and were issued their Certificates of National Service.

He said the passing-out exercise was conducted simultaneously across the 30 local government areas and the Area Office in Osun State.

He said, “A total of 1,702 corps members successfully completed the National Service and were issued their Certificates of National Service. Eighteen corps members absconded during the service year, while the service of 11 corps members was extended for various infractions in accordance with the provisions of the NYSC Bye-Laws.”

The state coordinator, accompanied by members of the State Management Team and the National Directorate Headquarters Monitoring Officer, Peter Okpanachi, monitored the low-key Passing-Out Ceremony held in Obokun, Ilesa East, and Ilesa West Local Government Areas.

Congratulating the outgoing corps members, Kubiangha described the successful completion of the service year as a significant milestone and expressed gratitude to God for preserving the corps members throughout the one-year programme.

He urged the outgoing participants to remain committed to integrity, determination, and excellence as they moved into the next phase of their careers.

According to him, “The Certificate of National Service should serve as a foundation for building successful and impactful careers through hard work, innovation, resilience, and discipline.”

Kubiangha also encouraged the former corps members to remain worthy ambassadors of the NYSC by upholding the values of patriotism, honesty, selfless service, and good character wherever they found themselves.

He advised them to remain law-abiding citizens and continue contributing to national development.

As part of the passing-out ceremony, eligible corps members received their Certificates of National Service, while outstanding Corps Liaison Officers were presented with Certificates of Commendation in recognition of their leadership and meritorious service during the service year.

The state coordinator offered prayers for the outgoing corps members and expressed confidence that they would excel in their chosen careers while making meaningful contributions to society.
