Yobe bans transfer of teachers to non-teaching MDAs

Yobe State Government has placed a total and permanent ban on the transfer, posting, or deployment of teaching personnel from education-related agencies to non-teaching Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

A statement recently released by the Office of the Head of Service said the ban covers staff under the Teaching Service Board, Science and Technical Schools’ Board, and the State Universal Basic Education Board.

“No MDA, parastatal, or institution is to request the posting or release of teachers from the affected agencies”, the statement warned.

The government said the measure was prompted by persistent transfers that have depleted manpower in schools and undermined efforts to improve education quality.

“Since assuming office, Governor Mai Mala Buni has declared a state of emergency on education through reforms and interventions aimed at raising standards across the sector”, it said.

Similarly, state-owned tertiary institutions have also been directed to stop forwarding requests for teaching staff from the three boards.
