At least six countries have secured qualification for the Round of 32 at the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 following the latest round of group-stage matches.

The countries that have booked their places in the knockout stage are Norway, France, Argentina, Mexico, Germany and the United States, all of whom have amassed six points from their opening two matches.

Norway and France became the latest teams to advance after recording victories over Senegal and Iraq respectively in Group I on Monday.

The results guaranteed both sides a top-two finish in the group and progression to the expanded knockout round.

Norway edged Senegal 3-2 in a thrilling contest, with captain Erling Haaland scoring twice to inspire his side to victory and secure the Scandinavian nation’s first World Cup knockout appearance in nearly three decades.

Speaking after the match, Haaland said, “We have to stay realistic and keep working hard,” as Norway celebrated their passage to the Round of 32.

France also confirmed their place in the next stage with a commanding 3-0 victory over Iraq, with captain Kylian Mbappe scoring twice despite a lengthy weather delay that interrupted proceedings.

Argentina joined the list of qualified teams after defeating Austria 2-0 in Group J, with Lionel Messi netting both goals to help the defending champions maintain their perfect start to the tournament.

Mexico, the United States and Germany had earlier secured their places in the knockout stage after winning their opening two matches in Groups A, D and E respectively. Mexico were the first side to qualify, while Germany and the USA soon followed.

The 2026 World Cup is the first edition to feature 48 teams, with the top two sides from each of the 12 groups and the eight best third-placed teams advancing to the Round of 32.
