Osun: PDP Warns APC Illegal Agents To Stay Off LG Secretariats, Alerts Police on Assassination Plot on Party Chieftains

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has received credible intelligence indicating a fresh plot by agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC), masquerading as local government chairmen, to invade local government council secretariats across Osun State on Monday in a desperate attempt to continue their illegal occupation and looting of public resources.

We wish to restate unequivocally that these individuals have no legal standing whatsoever. They are political impostors whose claim to office has collapsed under the weight of judicial pronouncements and constitutional reality. Their tenure does not exist in law, and no amount of political grandstanding can give life to a mandate that never existed.

We therefore warn these APC errand boys to steer clear of all local government council secretariats in Osun State. Any attempt to forcefully gain access to council facilities or interfere with the lawful administration of local governments will amount to a direct assault on the rule of law and a deliberate provocation capable of threatening public peace.

The attention of security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, is hereby drawn to this dangerous plot. The police and other security institutions have a constitutional responsibility to protect lives, property, and democratic institutions, not to provide cover for political adventurers seeking to manufacture chaos after exhausting all legal options.

It is instructive that the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo has dismissed every ground upon which these self-styled APC chairmen sought judicial validation for an extension of a tenure they never had in the first place. Having failed woefully in court, it is both reckless and irresponsible for them to contemplate resorting to self-help and lawlessness.

Security operatives must take particular note of the inflammatory posturing and dangerous rhetoric emanating from the APC in Osun State despite its comprehensive failure in a case it instituted by itself. Such conduct raises legitimate concerns about a coordinated attempt to undermine public order and test the resolve of law-abiding citizens.

The game is over. The legal road has reached a dead end for the APC and its agents. This reality must sink in. Nigeria cannot afford to be portrayed as a banana republic where court processes are manipulated to justify illegality and where defeated political actors seek through intimidation what they could not obtain through lawful means.

The people of Osun State deserve peace, stability, and sustained economic growth, all of which are being vigorously pursued by the administration of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke. Any attempt by political opportunists to deploy errand boys and hired agents to interfere with local government administration and lay hands on funds meant for grassroots development is unacceptable and will be resisted through all lawful means.

Let it be clearly stated that the duly elected local government chairmen and councillors under the Peoples Democratic Party remain the legitimate occupants of the local government councils in Osun State. Any further act of hooliganism or unlawful obstruction by the APC against these elected officials in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, particularly in the light of the latest judgement of the Federal High Court, amounts to a direct challenge to democratic governance and the collective will of the people of Osun State.

We therefore call on all security agencies to act professionally, impartially, and decisively by preventing any illegal gathering, invasion, or occupation of local government facilities by persons without lawful authority.

Osun State must not be dragged into avoidable turmoil by politicians who have exhausted both legal and political options and are now seeking relevance through provocation and disorder.

Similarly, credible intelligence available to us points to a sinister plot allegedly hatched at a recent political meeting held at the Ila-Orangun residence of Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor of Osun State and a leading APC chieftain, where discussions were said to have centered on carrying out high-profile political assassinations targeting leaders and associates of the polical platform where His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke is contesting the August 15 governorship election.

While we urge security agencies to thoroughly investigate these disturbing reports, we consider it necessary to place this intelligence in the public domain so that those behind such evil designs understand that their plans are no longer shrouded in secrecy and that the eyes of the public are firmly fixed on them.

This alleged plot bears all the hallmarks of the last gasp kick of a dying horse, symptomatic of political elements who have realized that they can no longer achieve their objectives through legitimate democratic means. We therefore call on all security agencies to rise to the occasion by taking proactive measures to identify, monitor and neutralize any individuals or groups linked to this evil agenda before it is executed. The preservation of lives, democratic stability and public peace must remain paramount, and no political ambition should be allowed to degenerate into violence, bloodshed or acts of political terror.

Signed:
Hon. Sunday Bisi
Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Osun State Chapter
