States That Declared Public Holiday For Hijrah 1448 AH

While the vast majority of the participating states declared Tuesday, June 16, 2026, as the official holiday,

Osun State specifically chose Wednesday, June 17, 2026, to observe the annual event.

Oyo State

Governor Seyi Makinde declared the work-free day, with official statements noting that the holiday recognizes the deep historical significance of the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Makkah to Madinah.

Kano State

Governor Abba Yusuf approved the public holiday in keeping with the longstanding local tradition of honoring the beginning of the Hijrah year.

Borno State
