THE Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council says a Federal High Court judgment deregistering the Accord Party has put Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid in doubt.
In a statement signed by Engr Oluremi Omowaiye, Head of Media and Publicity Committee, on June 16, 2026, the council said the court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to take steps in line with the judgment.
According to the statement, the suit was based on provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 and INEC regulations on party registration and continued existence. The council said it respects the court’s authority and noted the “profound implications” for Adeleke, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party platform.
“Unless and until the decision of the Federal High Court is set aside by a competent appellate court, Governor Ademola Adeleke will not be contesting the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State under the banner of Accord,” the statement read. The council added that the ruling would also affect other nominations by the party for state and National Assembly seats.
The APC council further stated that there are pending litigations over leadership tussle within the Accord Party at the national level. It said if courts rule in favour of an opposing faction, INEC may be unable to recognize Adeleke as the party’s validly nominated candidate.
The council accused the governor of failing to conduct due diligence before joining Accord, describing his situation as “self-induced limbo.” It also alleged mismanagement under the Adeleke administration, citing issues such as high school fees, lack of medical supplies, job losses, and the N99.5 billion Ede Airport project.
The statement called on Osun residents to remain peaceful as the state approaches the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
