Gunmen attack convoy of Gov. Soludo’s Chief of Staff, kill two

Gunmen on Sunday night, reportedly attacked a convoy of the Chief Of Staff to Anambra State Governor, along the Amansea-Ufuma area of Akwa, the state capital in South-East Nigeria killing two police officers in a gun duel.

Police authorities have however given a matching order that the suspected assailants be arrested within hours.

Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Ikioye Orutugu told senior officers on Monday at a strategic security meeting that all formations and operational units of the Command have just 48-hours to apprehend the attackers responsible for the killing of the two police officers.

Eyewitness accounts say, the Police operatives were fatally wounded when repelling the attack on the convoy of the top Anambra State government official on the lonely Ufuma route and under the cover of the dark night.

The latest incident has thrown fears among motorists and commuters operating along the Amansea area of Awka metropolis over recent kidnapping and criminal activities in the area.
