Osun Amotekun Decorates Senior Officers In Major Rank Promotion Exercise

In a significant milestone aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and leadership structure within the Osun Amotekun Corps, the management of the Corps on Monday, May 25, 2026, officially decorated senior officers with new ranks during a colourful and well-attended ceremony held in Osun State.

The promotion exercise, which had long been anticipated within the Corps, saw the decoration of Area Commanders, Heads of Departments, Operational Commanders, and other senior officers who have distinguished themselves through dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the security architecture of Osun State.

Speaking during the event, the Corps Commander, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, expressed gratitude to God for the successful realization of the long-awaited rank decoration exercise. According to him, the process had been in the works for a considerable period but had previously faced several setbacks before finally becoming a reality.

He emphasized that the newly conferred ranks should not merely be viewed as symbols of authority, but as greater responsibilities requiring discipline, humility, and exemplary conduct both within the Corps and in society at large.

“The rank you are wearing today is a call to greater responsibility. You must conduct yourselves honourably among your junior officers and members of the public. Leadership comes with accountability, discipline, and service,” the Corps Commander stated.

Dr. Omoyele further appreciated the Executive Governor of Osun State, Asiwaju Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, for his unwavering support and commitment toward strengthening the Osun Amotekun Corps. He also commended the Chairman of the Osun Amotekun Board, AIG Wale Abbas Rtd, for his approval, guidance, and steadfast support toward the progress and development of the Corps across the state.

The Corps Commander equally acknowledged the contributions of the Field Commander, Dr. Olusoji Akanni; the Director of Administration and Supply, Mr. Dayo Adigun; and the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs Grace Omitade for their immense support and dedication to the achievements recorded by the Corps.

He also appreciated the presence of family members, royal fathers, invited dignitaries, and guests who graced the occasion, praying for divine guidance and greater accomplishments for the newly promoted officers.

Dr. Omoyele further disclosed that Local Government Commanders and some officers at the Corps Headquarters would also receive their rank decorations during another exercise scheduled for the following Monday.

In his remarks, the Field Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Dr. Olusoji Akanni, described the decorated officers as deserving recipients whose sacrifices and contributions over the past five years had greatly advanced the growth and operational success of the Corps.
He encouraged other officers to remain hardworking, disciplined, and committed to duty, noting that diligence and loyalty would always attract recognition and reward.

“The responsibility given to these senior officers today is not to intimidate junior officers, but to guide, mentor, and correct them appropriately. Likewise, junior officers must respect constituted authority and uphold the values of the Corps,” he stated.

Also speaking at the event, the Legal Adviser of the Corps, Barrister Oyedele Akintayo, cautioned the newly promoted officers against abusing their positions or using their ranks to harass members of the public or engage in unnecessary confrontations with other security agencies.

He urged them to remain law-abiding, professional, and committed to the principles upon which the Osun Amotekun Corps was established, while praying for God’s continuous guidance and protection over them.

Similarly, the Ambassador Provost of the Corps, CSP Joshua Omogbehin, charged the officers to serve as worthy ambassadors of the Corps wherever they find themselves. He warned against maltreatment of junior officers, stressing that any officer found wanting would face disciplinary actions in line with the established rules and regulations of the Corps.

Dignitaries present at the ceremony included the wife of the Corps Commander, Rev. Apostle Mother Mrs. Omolola Omoyele; royal fathers from across the state; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Hon. Oyewole; Sango of Africa, Mrs. Grace Omitade; as well as the Director of Finance and Accounts and other top officials of the Corps.

Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the decorated officers, ACA Ojetunde Isaac expressed profound appreciation to the leadership of the Corps, particularly the Board Chairman, AIG Wale Abbas; the Corps Commander, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele; the Field Commander, Dr. Olusoji Akanni; and members of the management team for making the rank decoration exercise a success.

He assured the leadership that the newly promoted officers would continue to justify the confidence reposed in them through loyalty, professionalism, and dedicated service to the people of Osun State.
