Abducted woman rescued, five suspects arrested

A combined team of security operatives has rescued a kidnapped woman identified as Jemila Ibrahim and arrested five suspects.

The victim was reportedly abducted on May 10, 2026 and rescued on May 13, 2026, after sustained bush combing operations around Okpege River Road, Iyuku community in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State.

It was reported that the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen dated May 18, 2026, in Benin City.

Ikoedem gave the names of the arrested suspects to include Nura Saminu (24), Shaibu Isah (23), Suraj Sabitu (23), Yajubu Sagiru (23), and Oseni Abdullahi (26).

She added that the rescued victim has been taken to the hospital for medical attention.

She said the suspects are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, in the State, Monday Agbonika, commended the operatives involved in the operation and reassured residents of the state of the Command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
