There are strong indications that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State may have finally begun consolidating control ahead of the 2027 elections following the dramatic alignment of frontline Ifedore Constituency aspirant, Dr. Wale Adefila, popularly known as Bibire, with the consensus arrangement reportedly backed by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Adefila’s public declaration of loyalty to the governor’s political direction came on Thursday during an open-door strategic meeting with his coordinators drawn from all the 10 wards in Ifedore Local Government Area.
The development is already generating reactions within political circles, especially among party loyalists and aspirants contesting for positions ahead of the APC primaries.
The meeting, which had the appearance of a major political realignment in Ifedore, was attended by key APC stakeholders including the Ifedore APC Chairman, Prince Tunde Adegbonmire; former Special Assistant to the Governor, Barr. Asani Bakare; Alhaji Segun Amuda; Secretary of Ijare LCDA, Hon. Oni Olorunwa; Hon. Gbadamosi Yakubu representing Ilara Ward 2, alongside ward executives and several party leaders across the local government.
Speaking during the meeting, Adefila declared that the authority of the governor and the party leadership must be respected by all loyal APC members, insisting that the consensus arrangement remains the best option to preserve unity within the ruling party.
Political observers believe the move may significantly alter calculations within the Ifedore APC structure, considering Adefila’s growing grassroots influence and loyal support base across the constituency.
The aspirant warned against actions capable of creating internal divisions within the APC, stressing that personal ambition must not override party interest.
According to him, political leadership demands sacrifice, discipline and total commitment to collective progress.
He further assured party leaders that he would mobilize his supporters to align with whatever decision emerges from the consensus process.
In what many analysts consider a subtle message to the APC leadership, Adefila also appealed to the party hierarchy in Ondo State not to sideline loyal aspirants who may eventually step down in the interest of peace and unity.
He urged the leadership to reward sacrifice and loyalty through appointments, contracts and strategic involvement in government activities.
