Seventeen members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday defected from the African Democratic Congress to the Nigerian Democratic Congress, signaling a fresh political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
Their defections were announced during plenary, marking one of the largest recent shifts in the lower chamber.
The lawmakers include Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Uchenna Okonkwo, Thaddeus Attah, Lilian Orogbu and Afam Ogene, among others.
Also at plenary, Leke Abejide defected from the ADC to the All Progressives Congress.
The moves come a day after Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso left the ADC for the NDC, adding momentum to the emerging coalition.
