President Tinubu Appoints New Minister

News Update

The Presidency has announced changes in the leadership of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the resignation of Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs. She previously served as Minister of State in the same ministry before this latest appointment.

In another development, the President has nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. His appointment will take effect after approval by the Senate.

Before this nomination, Enikanolaiye, who hails from Kogi State, worked as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations. He is a career diplomat with more than thirty years of service in Nigeria’s foreign affairs system.

Over the years, he has also served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held diplomatic roles in cities such as Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.

The Presidency stated that the changes are part of efforts to improve Nigeria’s foreign relations structure and strengthen international engagement for better results.

President Tinubu congratulated both appointees and called on them to serve with dedication in advancing Nigeria’s interests, supporting economic relations with other countries, encouraging peace in the region, and protecting Nigerians both within and outside the country.
