The academic community of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) has been thrown into mourning following the tragic discovery of a 20-year-old student, Audi Emmanuel, found dead in his off-campus residence over the weekend.
Emmanuel, a student in the Department of Computer Engineering, was reportedly found hanging from a rope tied to the ceiling of his room.
The grim discovery has sent shockwaves through the institution, leaving friends and colleagues in deep distress.
The Ondo State Police Command has officially acknowledged the case. Speaking to newsmen, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed that an investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and to ascertain the cause of death while the school community awaits further details.
” The Ondo State Police Command confirms the report of a suspected suicide incident at Emure-Ile involving a 20-year-old student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, who was found dead in his residence. Police operatives promptly visited the scene, where the body was recovered and deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
