Historic Bid: TEMILAD Eyes National Assembly Seat, Advocates Gender Inclusion in Politics

Hon. Temilade Esther Adewusi, popularly known as TEMILAD, has formally declared her intention to contest for the Ijesa South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, marking a significant moment in the political landscape of the constituency. The declaration took place during a strategic meeting with key political stakeholders and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the residence of Elder Kunle Akanni Odeyemi in Ilesa.

Addressing party leaders and supporters at the gathering, Hon. Temilade Adewusi expressed profound appreciation to APC leaders across all levels, from the grassroots to the apex leadership in Ijesa South, for their unwavering commitment to the growth of the party. She also paid glowing tribute to His Royal Majesty, Oba Clement Adesuyi Hastrup, The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, commending his dedication, visionary leadership, and sustained contributions to the development of Ilesa and the entire Ijesa land.

In her address, the aspirant passionately appealed to party leaders to consider giving women the opportunity to represent Ijesa South at the National Assembly. She emphasized that the constituency, particularly Ilesa East, has never been represented by a woman, noting that inclusive representation would bring renewed energy and developmental focus to the region.

Highlighting her people-centered agenda, Hon. Temilade outlined her commitment to youth empowerment, improved educational support for children, and enhanced welfare for the elderly and retired citizens. She also pledged to champion policies that would support orphanages, expand opportunities in agriculture, and promote entrepreneurship through access to loans and sustainable empowerment programs for small-scale business owners.

Describing herself as a servant leader, seasoned health practitioner, and accomplished real estate developer, Hon. Temilade Adewusi assured constituents of her readiness to deploy her expertise and experience to uplift the constituency. She further promised to prioritize the revival of abandoned projects, including the Ilesa Fire Service Office, Ilesa Mega Stadium, Federal Housing Scheme, and the Ilesa Post Office, if given the mandate to serve.

In his remarks, Elder Kunle Akanni Odeyemi commended Hon. Temilade for her exceptional organizational capacity, particularly in mobilizing women and building strong political support. He noted that her ability to attract loyalty, even from individuals who had initially shown interest in the same position, speaks volumes about her leadership qualities and acceptability across the constituency.

The apex leader further emphasized the undeniable influence of women in politics and society, stating that their presence dominates various spheres, including religious, political, and social gatherings. He encouraged Hon. Temilade not to relent in her efforts, expressing optimism that she would emerge favorably in the party’s decision-making process.

Elder Odeyemi also seized the opportunity to call on party members and supporters to intensify mobilization efforts for the APC gubernatorial candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, assuring that collective commitment would yield rewarding outcomes for all loyal party faithful.
