APC EQUITY MOVEMENT DEMANDS FAIR REPRESENTATION, SEEKS ZONING OF 2027 REPS TICKET TO AKOKO NORTH WEST CONSTITUENCY 2

Akoko, Ondo State — [10 April, 2026]

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Equity Movement in Akoko North West Constituency 2 has formally petitioned the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, calling for equity, fairness, and just political representation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a strongly worded petition submitted to the party leadership, the group raised concerns over what it described as persistent political imbalance and marginalization within the Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency.

Allegations of Imbalance and Dominance

According to the group, Akoko North West Constituency 1 has maintained prolonged dominance of the House of Representatives seat, having produced Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (elected in 2019 and 2023), and subsequently influencing the emergence of his successor, Ife Ehindero.

The group further alleged that internal party processes during the transition were constrained by limited access to delegate structures and restricted participation, raising concerns about internal democracy.

They noted that if the current arrangement persists, it would effectively result in a third consecutive term for the same constituency, which they described as unjust and politically unhealthy.

Disparity in Political Appointments

The petition highlighted what it termed a disproportionate concentration of political power, stating that Akoko North West Constituency 1 and Akoko North East currently control key political positions.

Among those listed were:

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo — Federal Minister
Taiwo Oyedele — Federal Minister
Jide Ipinsagba — Senator representing Ondo North

Alongside several other federal and state-level appointments.

In contrast, the group lamented that Akoko North West Constituency 2 has not produced any federal elective office holder in over 12 years, nor benefited from commensurate political appointments despite its electoral strength and loyalty to the party.

Call for Equity and Strategic Zoning

The APC Equity Movement warned that continued marginalization could:

Undermine party unity
Discourage grassroots participation
Deepen political discontent
Pose electoral risks in 2027

The group therefore called on the APC leadership to:

Recognize the exclusion of Akoko North West Constituency 2
Uphold fairness and internal democracy
Zone the House of Representatives ticket for 2027 to Akoko North West Constituency 2
Retain the Senate ticket within Akoko North East Constituency
“This Is About Justice, Not Politics”

Speaking on behalf of the group, its representatives emphasized that the demand is rooted in fairness rather than political rivalry.

“This is not just a political appeal—it is a call for justice, balance, and inclusion. Equity is essential for unity and long-term party success,” the statement read.
