A student of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Maj AM Abubakar, died in a road traffic accident along the Abuja–Kaduna highway.
PUNCH Metro learnt from security analyst Zagazola Makama, in a post on X on Sunday, that the accident occurred on Saturday at Azara village near Jere in the Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, involving a commercial Sharon bus and a BUA Cement truck.
Makama disclosed that Maj. Abubakar, who was a passenger in the commercial vehicle, died on the spot, while other passengers sustained minor injuries.

“A senior military officer, Maj. AM Abubakar has died in a road traffic accident along the Abuja–Kaduna Highway. Sources told Zagazola Makama that the accident occurred on March 28 at Azara village near Jere in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, involving a commercial Sharon bus and a BUA Cement truck.
The source disclosed that the officer, who was a student at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, was a passenger in the commercial vehicle at the time of the crash.
He added that Maj. Abubakar died on the spot, while other passengers sustained minor injuries,” the post read.
He further disclosed that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna.

According to him, the officer’s personal belongings were handed over to his family upon their arrival at the hospital.
“Authorities are yet to provide details on the cause of the accident, while investigations into the incident are ongoing,” the post added.
The Federal Road Safety Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, could not be reached for comment, as calls to his phone on Sunday went unanswered.
A text message to him had not yet been replied to as of the time this report was filed.
