The Adamawa State Police Command says it has commenced an investigation into the death of a 46-year-old man found hanging from a tree in Girei Local Government Area of the state.
Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, identified the deceased as Ahmed Mohammed, a resident of Anguwan Hona in Girei.
He said the body was discovered at the foothills of Bagale Mountain on Sunday and was later evacuated to Cottage Hospital, Girei, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.
“The Adamawa State Police Command recorded a case of sudden and unnatural death reported on March 23, 2026, following the discovery of a lifeless body hanging on a tree at the foothills of Bagale Mountain, Girei Local Government Area.
“The victim, identified as Ahmed Mohammed, male, 46, of Anguwan Hona, was taken to Cottage Hospital, Girei, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“Investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death,” the statement said.
