Police authorities in Oyo State have reacted to a viral video circulating online in which a man allegedly claimed responsibility for multiple killings.
The command, in a statement issued on Wednesday, by its spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said it has begun an investigation to verify the claims and identify those involved.
According to the police, the individual identified in the video as Shawama was seen in the company of others claiming to have killed 32 people.
However, the command said there is no record of such a person having been arrested by its operatives.

“The Command wishes to categorically state that there is no record of such an individual having been arrested by our operatives at any point,” the statement said.
The police added that investigations have been initiated to verify the claims and establish the authenticity of the video.
According to the statement, the probe is being carried out using digital tools to track those involved.
“The investigation is being conducted leveraging advanced technology, including digital forensics and digital footprint analysis, to ensure a robust and credible outcome,” the command stated.
The police also appealed to members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the suspect and his accomplices.
