Lagos Bus Services Limited (BRT) has arraigned two of its bus captains over an alleged fuel siphoning incident.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company (BRT), Idowu Oguntona, said the incident occurred on March 10, 2026 and was brought to the attention of the company through a video recorded by a concerned citizen
.
According to a statement issued by the agency’s spokesman, Afolabi Olawale, the suspects were identified, apprehended and handed over to security personnel for further investigation.
The statement explained that the two staff members (BRT drivers ) were later arraigned before the Lagos Mobile Court on March 12.

Following their arraignment, the suspects were remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the continuation of the case scheduled for April 22.
Reaffirming the organisation’s stance against misconduct, Oguntona stressed the company’s commitment to transparency and accountability in its operations.
He said: “We strongly condemn any act that compromises the trust reposed in our workforce and the resources entrusted to us by the government and the people of Lagos State.”

The LBSL boss also commended the citizen who recorded and reported the incident, noting that public vigilance plays an important role in protecting the integrity of the state’s transport system.
He reiterated that any employee found engaging in fraud, theft or other serious misconduct would face strict disciplinary action and possible prosecution under the law.
