The family of veteran gospel singer Deborah Fasoyin, popularly known for the song “Odun N Lo Sopin,” has dismissed viral reports circulating on social media claiming that she is dead.
Her son, Korede Fasoyin, denied the rumour on Monday while speaking with The Punch, describing the claim as false and misleading.
According to him, the veteran singer is alive, noting that the family had already begun recording a video in which she would personally address the public to confirm her wellbeing.
Korede explained that the rumour triggered widespread concern among relatives, friends and admirers of the singer.

He said the family began receiving numerous phone calls from both within Nigeria and abroad shortly after the reports surfaced online.
According to him, the calls started coming in around midnight, with many people seeking confirmation about the alleged death of the gospel singer.
He expressed concern that the information had been circulated without proper verification, noting that the source of the misleading report was unknown.
The rumour had earlier spread widely across social media platforms, where several posts carried the singer’s photograph alongside “RIP” inscriptions, prompting condolence messages from users.
