The members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, Abia State chapter on Monday commenced an indefinite strike following a directive by the executive members of the union in the state.
Â
A statement by Abia JUSUN chairman, Prince Chinedu Ezeh, and state secretary, Chubueze Nwachukwu, blamed the action on the alleged failure of Abia State government to address the issues contained in their March 15, 2026 final ultimatum.
Â
The Abia JUSUN executives said the union was collectively pursuing the protection of its members’ welfare and the independence of the judiciary.
Â
When the Newsmen visited the Abia State High Court complex in Umuahia on Monday morning, lawyers and their clients who came for their scheduled matters were in confusion on learning about the industrial action.
Â
A police patrol vehicle was also stationed in front of the High Court building, ostensibly to prevent breakdown of law and order.
Â
A message pasted on the main gate of the Umuahia High Court complex said that the indefinite strike was approved by the JUSUN national office, led by Marwan Mustapha.
