Woman Alleges Disturbing Experience at Private Birthday Party in Lekki

A young woman has shared a troubling account of an incident she says occurred at a private birthday gathering in Lekki last week, raising concerns about safety and peer pressure at exclusive social events.

The woman, who identified herself as Olami in a video circulating online, said she was invited to the event by a well-known male acquaintance who had earlier asked her out. According to her account, she declined a romantic relationship but agreed to remain friends.

She said the man later invited her to accompany him to a birthday party. Before the event, he allegedly sent her ₦200,000 to purchase a dress and prepare for the occasion.

Olami said she arrived at the venue expecting a typical birthday celebration. Instead, she claimed she encountered a small gathering consisting of seven women and eleven men. According to her, the atmosphere quickly felt unusual.

“They kept insisting everyone should drink and loosen up,” she said, adding that she drinks occasionally but felt uncomfortable with the pressure.

The situation escalated later in the evening, she alleged, when the lights were turned off and replaced with blue lighting as guests were told a “game session” would begin. She initially assumed it would be a casual party game such as truth-or-dare.

However, Olami said she became alarmed when masks were reportedly distributed to guests and discussions about recording videos of intimate activities began. She stated that she refused to participate and asked to leave.

According to her account, some attendees tried to stop her from leaving and insisted she take part in the activities. Feeling threatened, she said she switched on her phone’s flashlight and warned that she would record anyone who attempted to touch her.

“They finally told me to leave,” she recounted.

Olami said she exited the party around 1 a.m. and attempted to book transportation. After struggling to find a ride, she said a passerby eventually helped her get home safely.

The incident has sparked conversations online about safety at private parties, particularly in affluent areas of Lagos where invitation-only gatherings are common.

As of the time of reporting, no official complaint has been publicly confirmed, and the identities of the individuals involved remain undisclosed. Authorities have not yet issued any statement regarding the incident.
