Uba Sani: Tinubu behind my achievements in Kaduna

Kaduna governor Uba Sani has explained how President Bola Tinubu has been aiding his administration in its achievements in the state.

Sani said his administration would not have recorded major achievements without the support of Tinubu.

Sani said this on Thursday in Kaduna while hosting social media influencers to an “Iftar,” the breaking of the Ramadan fast.

He said that Kaduna State would be the first subnational government to benefit from the 200 million dollars Nigeria-China Poultry project.

“By the grace of God, in the next two months, we will be doing the groundbreaking for the construction of the biggest poultry project in Sub-Saharan Africa,” he said.

According to Sani, the project will create 350 direct jobs and 150,000 indirect jobs, while supporting approximately 10,000 small businesses across the state.

He said that Kaduna would be the first state alongside Lagos to have a light rail system.

The governor announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the project would take place in May, and attribued the development to the support of President Tinubu.

While commending the social media influencers for promoting the activities of the state government, Sani described them as professionals and passionate about good governance.

He highlighted that they played a key role in publicising the achievements of his administration in the last two years.

On education, Sani said the state government, in partnership with the Kuwait Development Fund, built 104 schools to address the problem of out-of-school children.

He said the government also constructed 65 secondary schools and renovated more than 2,300 classrooms across the state.

“We are also working toward building an additional 55 secondary schools.

“From next month, we will begin recruiting at least 2,000 teachers for our primary schools, and we will continue this exercise every year,” he said.

Sani said the number of out-of-school children had dropped to 182,000 as against 580,000 in 2023.

He said the state was leading in skills development with the establishment of vocational institutions in Soba, Rigachikun and Zangon Kataf.

The governor said the institutions were well equipped to graduate about 32,000 certified artisans annually under the supervision of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

The artisans, he said, would be qualified to work anywhere in the world.

Sani said that his administration upon assumption of office reduced tuition fees in the state owned tertiary institutions resulting to 200 per cent increase in school enrollment.

Highliting strides in the health sector, Sani said the state government upgraded 255 primary healthcare centres from Level 1 to Level 2, as well as upgraded and equipped 16 secondary health facilities.

Sani said the government had commenced the annual recruitment of 1,800 medical personnel, including doctors and nurses, over the next five years.

He said Kaduna was the first state to perform the groundbreaking for the Special Agro Industrial Processing Zone.

According to Sani, the state government is partnering with the Afreximbank to establish an Africa Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC), to enable farmers certify their produce for export.

“When we came in 2023, the agriculture budget was only 0.5 per cent, but today it is over 11 per cent, surpassing the Malabo Declaration target,” he said.
