A commercial driver has sparked conversations online after sharing on TikTok how profitable the transportation business can be, drawing attention to the earning potential in the sector.
In a post shared on the platform, the driver wrote that the transport business is more rewarding than many people assume. In the caption displayed in the video, he claimed he earns between ₦30,000 and ₦40,000 daily from the business.
“Transportation business is better than Yahoo I swear I make 30–40k daily,” the text on the TikTok video read.
The post quickly gained traction, attracting reactions from viewers who compared the earnings to salaries in some white-collar jobs. For many young workers, entry-level office roles reportedly pay around ₦100,000 monthly, making the driver’s claimed daily earnings appear significantly higher.
The post has also sparked wider discussions about how many young people are searching for viable and legitimate sources of income amid rising unemployment and economic pressures.
While some youths pursue formal employment, others are drawn to cyber fraud, commonly referred to as “Yahoo Yahoo,” in pursuit of quick money. The driver’s post, however, highlights the potential of small-scale businesses such as transportation as an alternative means of making a living.
Although the TikTok post did not provide details about operating costs such as fuel, vehicle maintenance, or other expenses associated with the transport business, it has nonetheless prompted renewed interest in the sector’s profitability.
