The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State on Tuesday commenced its state congress at the Dome International Event Centre in Akure, where new executives emerged to steer the affairs of the party.
No fewer than 36 officials were returned unopposed through a consensus arrangement adopted by party stakeholders.
A former member of the House of Representatives for Akoko, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, popularly known as Ameachi, was elected as the state chairman of the party.
Also elected was Mr Alex Kalejaye, a journalist from Ilaje, who emerged as the new state secretary.
The congress drew prominent leaders of the party from across the state, including Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Party sources said the consensus option was adopted to promote unity and avoid internal disputes.
Security operatives were deployed to the venue to maintain order as delegates participated in the exercise.
