Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has said he will relinquish his seat if President Bola Tinubu fails to win his state in the 2027 general elections.
He made the vow on Friday while appearing as a guest on a programme on African Independent Television (AIT).
Speaking during the interview, the governor reeled off development projects in the state, saying that the people of Edo will show their appreciation for Tinubu at the ballot box in 2027.
He also boasted that, as a former protégé of the late Chief Tony Anenih—once the state’s master political strategist—he knows how to secure grassroots votes.
Okpebholo said, “Edo people have not even thanked Tinubu yet. How they will thank him is through their votes.
“The various projects across the state are the things that will speak for Tinubu, and he will win here. Mark my words: if he doesn’t win, I will resign as governor.

“There is no contest here for him. I’m a politician who understudied Chief Anenih. My style of politics is not thuggery, but grassroots.”
