Osun: Adeleke urges justice, unity as Ramadan begins

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has called on residents to renew their commitment to building a just and harmonious society as Muslims commence this year’s Ramadan fasting.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Osogbo, the governor congratulated the Muslim Ummah on witnessing another holy month, describing justice as the foundation of a safe and prosperous society.

Adeleke urged political actors within and outside the state to shun bitterness and embrace actions that serve the interests of the people.

He noted that Ramadan is a sacred period devoted to spiritual reflection, renewal of faith and strengthened devotion to Allah.

“I congratulate Muslims in the state and beyond for witnessing yet another Ramadan period,” the governor said.

“Ramadan offers a message of self-discipline and spiritual renewal. It is a season that reminds us of the values of patience and the essence of cheerful giving,” he added.

The governor encouraged the faithful to observe the fasting period in accordance with the dictates of Allah, stressing that the month embodies personal discipline, communion and tolerance.

“For 29 or 30 days, we will have a remarkable opportunity to strengthen our faith and dedicate ourselves to impacting lives, such as feeding the poor and helping others in need,” Adeleke stated.

He urged residents to use the season to foster unity and harmony, particularly by coming together during the breaking of fast.

Reflecting on developments in the state over the past year, Adeleke commended residents for their resilience amid what he described as challenges, including the seizure of local government funds.

“In the last one year, things have not been easy as those who believed they have power chose to punish Osun people for no reason other than politics,” he said.

“From my first day in office, I made a commitment to serve our people and no matter the hurdles, I will not depart from this commitment,” the governor added.

He assured citizens that his administration would continue to prioritise good governance.
