THE Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Osun State Council, has elected Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin, from the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, as its chairman.
Comrade Aboderin was elected during the state council election on Tuesday at the NUJ Press Centre, Osogbo.
He emerged victorious after defeating his opponent, Sofiu Abdulganiyu, in a keenly contested electoral race.
The election Presiding Officer, Ronke Samo, Vice Chairman of NUJ South West Zone, representing the NUJ President, Alhassan Yahaya, announced that Comrade Aboderin polled 136 votes, while Abdulganiyu received 98 votes.
Also, Olalekan Akindoju of Rave 91.7FM/Western Spring Television polled 122 votes to emerge as Secretary of the union, defeating Lateef Dada, who scored 112 votes.
A total of 233 NUJ members were accredited for the election.
Saheed Adegboye, who contested for the position of Treasurer, was unopposed and polled 232 votes, with one void vote, to emerge as the winner.

NUJ officials who observed the election included Ronke Samo, Vice Chairman of NUJ South West Zone, representing the NUJ President, Alhassan Yahaya; Olawale Olanrewaju, Chairman of NUJ Ogun Council; Seye Ojo, National Trustee of NUJ South West Zone; Abdulrazaq Alege; Kayode Babatunde, Chairman of NUJ Ekiti Council; Akeem Abass, Chairman of NUJ Oyo Council; and Secretary Dayo Adu.
