I wanted to complete my village mansion – Nigerian Man caught smuggling cocaine to China

A 62-year-old Lagos businessman, Nwabueze Nicholas Izueke, was caught at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on January 31, 2026, trying to smuggle 95 jumbo-sized wraps of cocaine weighing 1.589 kilograms hidden inside his stomach.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced the arrest in a statement by its Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, on Sunday, February 8.

Nwabueze was on a flight to China via Addis Ababa when a body scan detected the drugs. Under close observation, he expelled the pellets in seven rounds.

He confessed to using drug trafficking as a way to raise money to complete building his country home in Iwollo, Enugu State.
