Kwankwaso’s son resigns as Commissioner

News Update

Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso has resigned from his position as Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and as a member of the Kano State Executive Council.

In a statement he personally signed and shared on Facebook, Kwankwaso said the decision was taken with a “heavy heart,” bringing an end to his time in the cabinet of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

He expressed appreciation to the governor for giving him the opportunity to serve the state, describing it as a privilege to work for the people of Kano.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State,” he said, adding that he values the trust placed in him throughout his tenure.

Kwankwaso noted that his time in office came with important experiences and lessons, which he said would remain with him beyond his role in government.

He did not, however, state the specific reasons behind his resignation.

Speaking on the future of the sector he supervised, the former commissioner said he hoped the youth of Kano State would continue to receive the attention and support they deserve from the government.

He also expressed confidence that sports development programmes and initiatives in the state would continue to grow and succeed.

“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve,” he said.

“I hope for the best for our sports development programmes, and I am confident they will flourish in the years to come.”

Kwankwaso ended his message with prayers for Kano State, asking Allah to continue to bless the state and its people. He also wished the state government success in its efforts to deliver good governance.

His resignation adds to recent changes within the Kano State government, as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf joins the APC against his political godfather, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s wishes.
