Super Eagles attacker Akor Adams has temporarily stepped out of the national team’s camp after Nigeria’s dominant 4–0 triumph over Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The development was disclosed by the team through a post on its official X platform on Tuesday.
According to the update, Adams was excused from camp to attend to a family emergency involving his mother, who was admitted to the hospital.
“Akor Adams has been permitted to leave camp to be with his mum, who was hospitalised yesterday. We continue to keep him in our prayers and wish her a speedy recovery,” the statement said.
Despite receiving the distressing news before the Round of 16 clash, the forward still started the match and sealed Nigeria’s victory with the final goal.
It is unclear if the Sevilla striker will return in time for the Super Eagles’ quarter-final encounter against either DR Congo or Algeria scheduled for Saturday.
