OSUN: The All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of using proxies to attack the party’s governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
The party made the allegation in a statement issued by its state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, on Sunday in Osogbo.
According to Lawal, the governor and his supporters have become belligerent over what he described as their visibly disadvantaged position in the state’s political calculations.
“We have observed the orchestrated efforts of the injured and embittered Mr Adeleke and his co-travellers, their coordinated efforts to either sponsor hatchet writers or directly heap tantrums on the leader of our party in the state, His Excellency, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, now the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, and Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, the recently elected governorship candidate of our party who emerged in a seamless consensus primary election penultimate Saturday,” he said in the statement.
He further alleged that the governor’s political camp is experiencing sleepless nights over what he described as fruitless efforts to mask the glaring and monumental failure of the Adeleke-led administration.
The state APC chairman added that their struggles were the result of what he described as leadership that fails to plan.
Responding to the allegations, the Osun Accord Party chairman, Victor Akande, described the attacks as a sign of desperation.
“The rage, the lies and the incoherent attacks are therefore inevitable symptoms of frustration, not strength,” he said.
Akande went on to list what he described as the achievements of the Adeleke administration, contrasting them with the period of APC governance.
