Former INEC REC, Abdulganiy Raji dies in his sleep

A former Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission and a lecturer at the University of Ibadan, Professor Abdulganiy Raji, has passed away.

His family confirmed the death in a statement released on Friday.

The statement said Professor Raji died calmly in his sleep at his home in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Raji served the electoral body as Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti, Ogun and Osun states during his time with INEC.

Beyond public service, he built a long academic career at the University of Ibadan, where he was a professor of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering.

The family announced that Janazah prayers will take place on Saturday, December 20, at the Ogbomoso Central Mosque in Oja’agbo by 11am.

After the prayers, he will be laid to rest at a Muslim cemetery in Ogbomoso.

Professor Raji is survived by his wife, children, friends and other relatives.

The statement announcing his death was issued on behalf of the Raji family.
