APC State Chairman Impeached, Replacement Announced

News Update

THE All Progressives Congress in Cross River State has appointed Ntufam Ekum Ojogu as its acting chairman following the impeachment of the former chairman, Alphonsus Eba, over alleged misappropriation of funds, high-handedness, and non-payment of stipends to party officials across chapters and wards.

Ojogu was unveiled on Thursday at the APC Secretariat in Calabar, where he pledged to stabilise the party and work with its stakeholders to strengthen grassroots structures.

He said, “I give profound thanks to Almighty God for His grace that has brought us to this moment. I am deeply humbled and honoured to stand before you today as the Acting Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State.

“Your solidarity, loyalty, and unflinching support during this transition have not gone unnoticed. The unity we display today is a testament to the resilience and love we share for our party and for Cross River State. We will work day and night to deliver dividends of democracy to our people.”

He said Eba’s removal followed a vote of no confidence passed by party leaders, adding that the decision was aimed at restoring order and accountability.

“I thank every member who stood firm for due process and party stability. I extend my sincere appreciation to the Chapter Chairmen of the 18 Local Government Areas. Your dedication at the grassroots has kept the party’s flame alive,” he stated.

Ojogu commended chapter chairmen across the 18 local government areas, ward executives, polling unit coordinators and volunteers for keeping the party’s structures active.

The acting chairman reaffirmed loyalty to Governor Bassey Otu and called on members to put aside differences and unite behind the administration’s development agenda.
